|Get them hooked while they are young!|
|Have you ever wondered how this fly fishing sport we love will survive? Today, there is so much competition for a young person’s time? School, school sports, clubs sports, mobile phones, social media, etc., all possess a huge enticement on where to spend time. Those young people who have chosen to make Boy Scouts of America (BSA) a part of their lives are the perfect audience for natural resource education through the BSA merit badge programs in general and the fly fishing merit badge program in particular. The Wente Scout Reservation in Willits, California, is seeking fly fishers to be instructors during their summer camp sessions beginning in June and ending in August. The Wente Reservation Camp has their own 75 acre lake with lots of 5+ lb. bass. As a volunteer you have the opportunity to fish it anytime you’re not teaching the class. In one report a fisher caught 15 bass in the 3-8 lb. range.|
